Tuesday at the funeral of Gianfranco, I’ve seen so many friends. the affection of all, though, it helped me to lighten the weight on my heart from the loss of Dad.
And I want to thank everyone, from the heart.
Thank you!

Before leaving, Gianfranco wanted to make an act of great dignity, honesty and foresight, a difficult one, which he gained consciousness after evaluating all different aspects and consequences:

Last Thursday, summoning the board of Solidarity, Gianfranco formalize its intention to leave the leadership of our association.

He had recently gained the conviction of not having the necessary energy needed for a so burdensome commitment, especially in order to continue toward that “… and beyond …” that his friend Edgardo indicated to him in his testament, calling Gianfranco to drive Solidarity on 2007.
Gianfranco wanted to facilitate (as I had repeatedly told me) the renewal of the association not only to complete the started projects, but also to allow Solidarity to be able to continue to own that “… and beyond …”

Not to step aside but to remain alongside those who would continue.

I know he will!

Welcoming his request, friends advisers, in the session on Thursday, April 19, 2014, they chose to trust in me as the president of Solidarity and Cooperation Without Borders n.g.o. and to confirm Carlo Lesi as vice president.

I thank them for trusting me, I will endeavor to be worthy of it.

It will be certainly challenging to continue what started with Edgardo visionary foresight and what Gianfranco has stubbornly continued, but I know I can count on their help and their example and also on the help of all the friends of Solidarity that believe in them, in their ideals , which are those of our association, and I hope they will continue to do so.

I also hope I gain the same trust from you, for now I can only ask for everyone’s help and prayers to continue the journey together.

Passaggi

Martedì al funerale di Gianfranco ho visto tanti amici (alcuni dei quali forse non merito ma spero di poter conservare) e non ne ho visti altri (alcuni dei quali forse ho meritato di perdere ma spero di poter ritrovare).
L’affetto di tutti, però, mi ha aiutato ad alleggerire il cuore dal peso della perdita di papà.
E di questo voglio ringraziare ciascuno, di cuore.

Prima di lasciarci Gianfranco ha voluto compiere un gesto di grande dignitá, onestá e lungimiranza, un gesto difficile, che ha maturato con grande coscienza dopo averlo molto considerato nei diversi aspetti e conseguenze:
 
Giovedi scorso ha convocato il consiglio di Solidarietà per formalizzare la sua intenzione di lasciarne la guida.
 
Aveva infatti maturato la convinzione di non avere più le energie necessarie per un impegno così gravoso, soprattutto per poter proseguire verso quel “… e oltre …” che il suo amico Edgardo aveva indicato in testamento chiamandolo, nel 2007, alla guida di Solidarietá.
Gianfranco voleva facilitare (come mi aveva già più volte confidato) il rinnovamento della associazione non solo per completare i progetti iniziati, ma anche per permettere a Solidarietà di poter proseguire proprio verso quel “… e oltre…”
 
Non per farsi da parte ma per restare a fianco di chi avrebbe proseguito.
 
So che lo farà!
 
Accogliendo questa sua accorata richiesta, gli amici consiglieri, che avevano rinnovato unanimemente la fiducia in Gianfranco, nella seduta di giovedì 19 aprile 2014, hanno scelto di accordare la medesima fiducia a me e di confermare Carlo Lesi quale vice presidente.
 
Di questa fiducia li ringrazio, mi impegnerò per esserne degno.
 
E sarà certamente impegnativo proseguire ciò che Edgardo ha cominciato con visionaria lungimiranza e che Gianfranco ha caparbiamente proseguito, so però di poter contare sul loro aiuto e su loro esempio e anche sull’aiuto di tutti gli amici di Solidarietà che in loro, nei loro ideali, che sono quelli della nostra associazione, hanno creduto e mi auguro continueranno a farlo. 
 
Spero di poter conquistare anche io la vostra fiducia, per ora posso solo chiedere l’aiuto di tutti per proseguire il cammino insieme.
